Olivier Giroud's future at Arsenal is currently under speculation, as reports suggest a possible move to Atletico Madrid to replace striker Diego Costa, who looks set to leave the Vicente Calderon this summer.
The Frenchman has however, been a key figure in Arsenal's season, scoring 15 goals during the campaign which saw them secure fourth place on Monday night.
The loss of such a pivotal player would surely upset many fans, unless a big name player could replace the forward.
Karim Benzema could be that very player, according to the Daily Mirror. As Real Madrid enter into possible bidding wars for both Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero this summer, Benzema may find himself without a place at the Santiago Bernabeu, leaving him open to other options.
Rumours now are rife that Wenger is interested in the France international and, may in fact make a bid for him.
It is believed that Real Madrid have agreed to listen to offers for the 26-year-old striker who has scored 22 goals this season in all competitions as they aim to make key changes in their current squad.
His performances have led to interest from Manchester United, PSG and Chelsea, alongside the Gunners. The price tag - £42.5 million.
Whether the rumours are true: whether the merry-go-round of players will transpire to circle in this fashion is unclear. What is known however, is that if Arsene Wenger wishes to sign the forward, he may be up against some large financial competition.
