We've had all the awards for the players who are the best in their position, age group or league, and now it is time to name to top five worst Premier League footballers, statistically calculated by Whoscored.com. It is ranked by their average rating.
5: Declan John (Cardiff) Average Rating: 6.31.
Cardiff are heading for the Championship this season, and their defence is the main reason. Juan Cala was signed in January by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer because Declan John has, it's fair to say, had a poor campaign, and will likely be shown the door.
4: Darren Bent (Fulham) Average Rating: 6.26.
Despite being a proven goalscorer, Bent has passed his peak. With only three goals all campaign, it's hard to think that this man was an England international just a few years ago.
3: Danny Graham (Sunderland, loan to Hull) Average Rating: 6.23.
Things have really gone downhill for Graham. Having been a decent striker at Swansea, he made the mistake of his career by joining Sunderland in the 2013 winter transfer window. He has never scored for Sunderland, only netting once on his loan spell at Hull and being repetitively criticised for wasting chances. Fortunately he has been more successful in a recent loan spell to Middlesbrough.
2: Ricky van Wolfswinkel (Norwich) Average Rating: 6.19.
You have to feel for Ricky van Wolfswinkel. Having been a superb talent at Sporting Lisbon, many eyebrows were raised when he joined Norwich, when some thought he could set his sights higher. He then scored a superb debut goal against Everton. Unfortunately Van Wolfswinkel has managed only one assist and no more goals. A really damaging season.
1: Dwight Gayle (Crystal Palace) Average Rating: 6.17.
It's official; the worst player of the season is Dwight Gayle. The youngster may have conjured up some moments of magic, but it's his awful inconsistency above anything else that has won him this award.
