After a period away from the organization, latino star Rey Mysterio is meeting today with the WWE hierarchy with the possibility of a new contract believed to be high on the agenda.

Mysterio tweeted the following message to his followers Tuesday ahead of the showdown:

"At WWE HQ, getting ready to sit down with the bosses and chop it up!!! 619!."

The famed wrestler has been vacationing in Hawaii in recent weeks meaning he has not featured in the organization for a prolonged period.

His last appearance came at WrestleMania XXX almost a month ago, and ended in indignity when he was routinely booed by fans during his match against Bad News Barrett.

And prior to his leave of absence there were rumors suggesting that his future in the WWE was in doubt, with bosses beginning to question whether the 39-year-old still had the ability to perform at the top.

But the tweet sent out my Mysterio, real name Oscar Gutierrez, certainly showed him in good spirits as he headed to the WWE headquarters which led the likes of wrestlinginc.com to suggest a new contract could be on the table soon.

Mysterio has been a popular figure in the WWE since his debut in 2002, going on to claim the World Heavyweight title on several occasions but clearly some of his popularity has dwindled in recent times if the events in New Orleans are anything t go bye.

He will be hoping though that these discussions lead to a positive outcome.
