Michael Sam grabbed the headlines earlier in the year by becoming the first openly gay NFL draft prospect.
Whilst he may not be the most technically gifted player, if his poor showings at the combine and his pro day are anything to go by, he still has a lot of support.
One such supporter is none other than hall of fame NFL star Michael Irvin. Irvin met with Sam earlier tonight and endorsed him via twitter saying: "Thanks for being you."
Whilst the attention was drawn to Sam earlier in the year after he publicly came out, his performances on the field have been less favourably received by scouts across the league.
He will likely be drafted, seeing as he was the SEC defensive player of the year, and with a bit of work could well do a good job as a linebacker for a franchise.
However there are rumours that some teams and dressing rooms might not give Sam the chance to prove himself due to their nervousness at having an openly homosexual athlete in their ranks.
Whilst those people languish in the 19th century, we'll be watching the draft this Thursday in the 21st century and look forward to seeing where he ends up.
