A baby T-Rex threw the first pitch of the game at Petco Park before the contest between the San Diego Padres and Kansas City Royals.

One of the stars of an upcoming show based on the BBC series "Walking with Dinosaurs" wandered out onto the outfield before gripping the ball between his humongous teeth and throwing the first pitch with its mouth.

The crowd attending the San Diego home game were more than happy with the appearance of the beast who almost took a bite out of famous Padres mascot, the 'Swinging Friar'.

There have been many outstanding opening pitches in baseball history but this one involving a dinosaur certainly has to be up there.
