Khalil Mack has mom to thank for NFL draft stock rise

Khalil Mack is predicted to go high in tonight's 2014 NFL Draft, with the Buffalo linebacker even seen by some as a candidate for number one overall pick.

And his rise up the draft board is all thanks to his mom apparently.

Back in 2013 Mack was giving serious consideration to bypassing his senior year and entering the draft a year early with the possibility of being a fourth round pick lying ahead.

A determination to please his mother however convinced the defensive prospect to stick it out in college:

"I couldn't do that to my mom, couldn't leave school without my degree, couldn't do that to her or myself," Mack revealed in an interview with USA Today.

What a wise decision that turned out to be for the former University of Buffalo man who, on the way to graduating with a degree in psychology, exploded in his senior year to become a dominant force playing in the Mid-American Conference.

An impressive year, alongside a standout Senior Bowl and Combine performance, have since seen Mack enter the first round discussion.

So it seems that sometimes at least the old adage is true...

Mother really does know best.
