Manchester United and Arsenal face disappointment in their pursuit of AC Milan forward Mario Balotelli.

According to the Daily Express, United were set to be approached by AC Milan regarding a swap deal involving Balotelli and Old Trafford striker Robin Van Persie.

Arsenal and Tottenham have also been linked with the former-Manchester City striker, who has failed to hit the same heights of his early months at the San Siro.

But speaking to Calciomercato in Italy as reported by the Daily Express, Balotelli's agent Mino Raiola all but ended any hopes United, Spurs or Arsenal had of signing the Italy international this summer.

"The only voices that count are those of the player and mine, seeing as I represent him," Raiola said. "Adriano Galliani told me he is not for sale and this makes me very happy.

"From here to August 31 we'll hear many rumours on his future, but that's not a problem."

The ex-City man left the Premier League behind for another spell in Serie A, and while he has still managed 18 goals this term, the club has struggled mightily.

The Italian giants may be able to salvage a top six finish with two games of the season remaining, but at one time it looked as though they would fail to crack the top 10.

Balotelli was largely a success on the pitch in the Premier League, which has obviously led to transfer rumours following speculation he could be let go by Milan.

But while United, Spurs and Arsenal all look set to be extremely active this summer, it doesn't look like the €30m-rated Balotelli will be on the agenda.
