Chelsea and Liverpool will have to be patient in their ongoing pursuit of Caner Erkin, after the Fenerbahce midfielder's agent revealed plans to hold further talks with the Turkish Super Lig outfit over a new contract.
The Daily Star reports how the 25-year-old has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in recent months, having attracted attention from clubs in England, Spain and Italy.
Brendan Rodgers has been credited with an interest in bringing the Turkey international to Anfield, while Jose Mourinho has also been mooted as an admirer of the player, and might look to lure him to Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens this summer.
With Erkin out of contract at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium at the end of the season it's no surprise to see Chelsea and Liverpool among a growing list of suitors currently keeping tabs on his situation.
However, one club that has definitely not been in touch with the midfielder over a prospective transfer is Inter Milan, following comments made by Erkin's representative Batur Altıparmak.
"Reports that we have held talks with Inter are a complete fabrication," he told TurkishFootball.com. "We have not received an offer or held talks with Inter.
"However, a few clubs have made offers for Caner, two clubs from England have made a bid and he has also received offers from Spain and Italy.
"We have received offers but have not held direct talks with any club yet, first of all we are going to listen to Fenerbahce's offer."
Ersun Yanal will be determined to keep Erkin in Turkey, and will hope that reported interest from the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea will not prevent him from signing a new deal with Fenerbahce.
