Lewis Holtby takes out Howard Webb in King testimonial

Lewis Holtby has established himself as a real fan favourite at Tottenham since his switch from Schalke - however we get the feeling he's earned a place in the hearts of football fans across the world thanks to his actions last night.

The young German midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Fulham but couldn't help them avoid the drop, featured in Ledley King's testimonial at White Hart Lane last night.

Seemingly in tribute to the defender who spent his entire career with Tottenham before being forced to retire early with a knee injury, Holtby thought he'd try out one of King's trademark tackles when the ball fell at the feet of referee Howard Webb.

Sadly for Webb, but brilliantly for the rest of the human race, the Spurs ace mis-timed his lunge (or actually, timed his lunge perfectly) and completely wiped out the red-faced official.

Webb, who refereed the World Cup final in 2010 got his own back with a cheeky shove, but the damage was done.

Ledley King's legends XI ran out 6-3 winners against a Tottenham XI in what was evidently an enjoyable night at White Hart Lane last night.
