Eden Hazard must improve, says Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has told Chelsea star Eden Hazard that he must improve next season.

Speaking at the Chelsea awards presentation, during which Hazard collected the Chelsea player of the year award, Mourinho said he wanted to see an even better player next season.

Mourinho challenged Hazard several times last season to improve his consistency and the pair clashed on at least one occasion. The Belgium international was dropped for one home game after returning late to a training session after spending time in France.

And while presenting Hazard with the award, Mourinho said: "Next season we want more from you."

Hazard criticised Chelsea's tactics after their Champions League semi-final defeat to Atletico Madrid, saying that he felt he had to do it all offensively.

But Mourinho hit back, and the back-and-forth only served to heighten speculation linking Hazard with a summer move to Paris Saint Germain.

The defending French champions reportedly have their eye on several Chelsea first-team players, including Hazard, despite fears that UEFA could sanction the club for FFP breaches.

Hazard was Chelsea's top Premier League goalscorer last year, with 14 goals from 35 appearances.
