Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is desperate to seal a dream move to Barcelona this summer, rather than agreeing a new contract with the Blues.

That information comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, who claim the Belgium international has his heart set on a move to Barcelona instead of returning to Stamford Bridge following three seasons on loan with Atletico Madrid.

Courtois is currently contracted to Chelsea until 2016. There has been much speculation regarding his future of late, with reports claiming Jose Mourinho wants him to replace Petr Cech as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper from the start of next season. Other reports suggest Courtois will agree to extend his Chelsea contract through to 2018 on the condition that he can return to Atletico for a fourth loan spell next term.

The 22-year-old has cemented his reputation as the best young goalkeeper on the planet during his three years at the Vicente Calderon. His talismanic performances have been instrumental in Atleti’s remarkable form this season - and he could return to west London as both a La Liga and Champions League winner, depending on the outcome of matches to played over the next fortnight.

Courtois will travel to the Camp Nou on Saturday, along with the rest of his Atletico Madrid teammates, for the crunch winner-takes-all La Liga showdown against Barcelona. Another imperious display will only convince Barcelona even more than Courtois is the perfect ‘keeper to replace the outgoing Victor Valdes.

The Catalan giants are believed to have struck a deal to sign 22-year-old Germany international Marc-Andre ter Stegen. However, Courtois is widely-regarded as a much better talent, and Barcelona are unlikely to pass on the opportunity to sign him should the opportunity arise.
