Liverpool striker Luis Suarez absolutely romped away to win this season's Premier League golden boot race, scoring an incredible 31 goals in 33 games, but you will be very interested to learn that his amazing tally is eclipsed by one other player in terms of directly converting goals into points.

Thanks to the plethora of statistics provided by Opta we have managed to work out the Premier League's most valuable player was not actually Suarez, despite a string of mesmerising displays that saw him named PFA player of the year and Football Writers' player of the year with minimum opposition from pundits or fans.

To come to this conclusion GMS has focused on the goals that either proved to be winners or brought teams back from the brink to claim a valuable draw, with surprising results.
