Arsenal and Liverpool will go head-to-head to sign Reading's Jordan Obita this summer, according to the Daily Express.

Obita had a fine season for Reading during last season's campaign despite being forced into playing out of position due to Wayne Bridge's lack of fitness.

The left winger played the majority of the season at full-back and impressed so much in his new-found role that he was named Reading's Player of the Year.

His performances for Nigel Adkins' side could see him rewarded with a move to one of the Premier League's big boys as both Arsenal and Liverpool are said to be keeping close tabs on the promising 20-year-old.

Liverpool will be in the market for a new left-back in the summer as Brendan Rodgers is far from happy with his current options.

Rodgers was forced into playing the right-footed Jon Flanagan at left-back during the majority of the season as both Jose Enrique and Aly Cissokho failed to hold down a regular starting spot.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who has a fantastic track record with young players, could also make a move for Obita in the summer despite already having Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal at his disposal.
