Louis van Gaal will have to return to the drawing board with regards to his transfer plans this summer, as Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has become the latest top star to categorically rule out a move to Old Trafford.

In recent weeks the Dutch international has found himself slowly creeping up the supposed transfer wish-list of Van Gaal, and in the last few days the subject of him making a shock move to Manchester has been viewed with a degree of possibility due to his strong ties with United’s new boss. However Robben, who once again played an important role in Bayern Munich’s surge for the Bundesliga title this year, revealed to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, that there was absolutely no chance of a move coming to fruition.

The quotes, relayed by ESPN, were as follows: “That's not an option. I'm staying with Bayern Munich. Period.

"I cannot imagine why Bayern would want to lose me. I just renewed my contract and we are happy with each other.

"It's very different when you're not completely happy. I had a fantastic time with Van Gaal at FC Bayern and know what I have with him.

"Van Gaal and Guardiola are the best trainers I have worked with. I feel good so will stay where I am. The chance is zero that I make the switch."

Naturally Van Gaal will be less than pleased with the comments, as Robben has now become the fourth player to reject him. William Carvalho told Portuguese television channels that he was fully expecting to remain at Sporting Lisbon for next summer, Toni Kroos revealed that he will remain with Bayern Munich until at least 2015, and strong rumours from Italy claim that Kevin Strootman is more than happy with life at Roma.
