Football News

With the Premier League season now over and the World Cup on the horizon, the national newspapers have plenty of time to turn their attention to one thing - transfers.

Whilst the summer window might not yet be open, there is already lots of speculation over who might be moving where either before or after the showpiece event in Brazil which kicks off next month.

There's also plenty of talk over new contracts, and who might be staying rather than going when the dust settles. So, without further ado, here's the pick of today's headlines...

The Daily Mail

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in bringing Ashley Cole to the club this summer.

The former England international left-back is out of contract after eight years of service with Chelsea, and Spurs are among the clubs hoping to sign the 33-year-old.

Manchester City will not be forced into offering Yaya Toure an incredible £300,000-a-week contract at the Etihad Stadium.

The Ivorian international was influential in the Citizens run to the title, but despite comments that he may be unhappy at the club, Manuel Pellegrini will hold fire on offering the 31-year-old a mega-deal.
