Manchester United odds-on favourites to sign Jordy Clasie

Manchester United are odds-on favourites to sign Jordy Clasie this summer.

SkyBet have the Red Devils at an extremely short 4/7 to bring the Dutch international midfielder to the club in the transfer window, with Arsenal and Spurs well back at 12/1 and Manchester City even further behind at 16/1.

Whilst the bookmakers rarely get this kind of thing wrong, such a strong link to Clasie has come a little out of the blue given that a number of bigger names - including Cesc Fabregas - have been mooted as potential Old Trafford targets.

However, the arrival of Louis van Gaal means an influx of players from the Netherlands is not out of the question, as he looks to guide the country to World Cup glory this summer before arriving at Manchester United.

Clasie is part of the squad making the trip to Brazil, and has been an ever-present for Feyenoord since returning from a loan spell back in 2011. At just 22-years-old, he also has plenty of football ahead of him.

After falling well off the Premier League pace last season under David Moyes and then Ryan Giggs, the new Manchester United manager will know that changes are needed if the club are to challenge for the domestic title once again.

Clasie could be the first of a number of additions, and is he does join the Red Devils this summer, he'll get the chance to play alongside compatriot Robin van Persie on a more regular basis.
