Manchester United coach Phil Neville was humiliated by a Manchester City fan while minding his own business on a train journey between London and Manchester on Saturday.

The City fan approached Neville, who is not expected to be part of Louis van Gaal’s coaching staff following a disastrous season working alongside David Moyes, before giving him stick for being part of the Red Devils’ worst campaign of the Premier League era.

“Phil, congratulations last season pal,” the Manchester City fan told Neville. “You and David Moyes worked wonders - football genius. City, City champions!’”

Needless to say, the supporter’s comments did not go down well with Neville, who later tweeted his agreement who called the City fan an “a***hole”, according to the Daily Mail.

The City fan had good reason to feel smug, however. His side finished a massive 22 points clear of seventh-placed United in pole position to claim their second Premier League title in three seasons.

While Ryan Giggs will stay at Old Trafford as Van Gaal’s assistant, Neville - along with Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt - could all leave the Premier League giants over the forthcoming weeks.
