Radamel Falcao set to be subject of shock £25m Chelsea offer

Jose Mourinho is preparing to make a shock swoop for Monaco star Radamel Falcao with the funds made available from the sale of David Luiz, according to the Daily Star.

The paper claims that the Special One has turned his attentions to the Colombian striker, and may well look to secure his signature alongside that of Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa. It’s been made abundantly clear that Mourinho is prioritising the capture of a top-quality finisher with a view to mounting a serious challenge for major honours next campaign, and the likes of Mario Mandzukic have also been named in connection.

However it’s believed that the Chelsea coach is set to re-affirm his interest in Falcao, and is ready to make a £25million bid to test Monaco’s resolve. The French giants haven’t seen the best of their star man, despite paying around £50million for him last summer, but it’s unlikely they will be open to the idea of moving him less than a year after taking him away from Atletico.

It would appear though that the slim odds don’t faze Mourinho, and the Blues boss will stage an audacious attempt to lure the 28-year-old to west London, as he seeks to re-shuffle his front-line. The futures of Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku are looking increasingly precarious and with Samuel Eto'o already consigned to an exit when his current contract runs out Chelsea are in need of acquisitions.
