Sports market research firm Repucom have released a top ten of most globally marketable players in the world right now and there is little surprise about the top two in the rankings. However, there are a few entries further down that may well cause a few raised eyebrows.
Repucom give each player a DBI score after taking into consideration a number of factors, including Facebook likes and Twitter follows, as well as results from a poll of over 6,500 people in a number of different countries about the awareness for the particular football star. GMS are always intrigued about the coverage certain players get and what proportion of people around the globe are keeping tabs on their careers, though not as much as brands looking to sell off the back of associations with stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi.
