Juan Mata showed no mercy to Premier League rival Pepe Reina when the pair went to head to head during a training session for Spain - with the Manchester United man blasting an unbelievable shot past the on-loan Liverpool stopper.

Both players have been named in Spain's provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup in Brazil which gets underway next month - and judging by this video it's easy to see who boss Vicente del Bosque is likely to be more impressed by.

The Manchester United man - who became the most expensive player in the club's history this season - picked up the ball at around the halfway line in a small-sided game during a recent session with Spain.

Rather than lay it off however he opted for an audacious drive into the top corner - which left his Liverpool rival flat-footed as the ball sailed into the net.

Manchester United will be hoping to see plenty more of that from Mata at Old Trafford next season - while Liverpool probably aren't in a rush to see Reina to back at Anfield from his loan with Napoli.
