Barcelona have lined up Ander Herrera as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas, according to The Daily Star.

Herrera, who was previously a target for Manchester United, has a buyout clause of £32 million, and could now be on his way to the Nou Camp this summer. The youngster has played a key role for Athletic Bilbao in recent time, and will be hoping to further progress in the 2014/15 campaign.

This news could come as a boost for Manchester United, however, as the club have been linked with Fabregas in recent time, and the door could now be open for the club to make a move for him in the up coming window.

The Red Devils appear desperate to add to their options in midfield ahead of next season, and many reports have indicated that the club will make a move for the the Spanish international in the near future.

The likes of Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley and Darren Fletcher have all struggled for form and consistency over the last year, and the addition of Fabregas would certainly improve the former champions in the middle of the park.

With Dutchman Louis van Gaal now in charge of Manchester United, it's expected to be a busy summer at the club.
