Cristiano Ronaldo Portugal's World Cup campaign underway by taking a selfie with some of the rest of the squad and the President of Portugal.

The Real Madrid superstar is not exactly shy of the camera and it seems these days that any kind of occasion has to be marked by the awkward looking photo taken at arm's length. Ronaldo is probably used to being the main attraction for any photo, but he had to play second fiddle to Raul Meireles' sensational facial hair.

Although GMS seriously doubt if there can be any such thing as a 'hiopster footballer', the former Chelsea midfielder is regularly referred to as such because of the ginormous beard and array of tattoos. The old guy they are with is Cavaco Silva, the President of Portugal, carrying out what seems to be an integral part of any political career these days.

"A team representing a country!" is how Ronaldo describes the picture and it is actually quite a good one. Perhaps criticisms of vanity are a little unfair, as he is the captain of the side and he's probably the person who should be doing such things.

Portugal players are all smiles here but there is a good chance they could be expressing grimaces once they kick things off in Brazil. Ronaldo et al are in the 'Group of Death' for World Cup 2014, being drawn alongside Germany, Ghana and the United States, with the opener against their fellow Europeans. Check out the selfie below.
