Chicago Bears' Alshon Jeffery has given himself a new nickname

Introducing 'The Show'

Last season Alshon Jeffery established himself as one of the premier wide receivers currently doing the business in the NFL.

Helping himself to 1,421 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in just his second season in the league Jeffery marked himself out as a star in the making alongside fellow wideout Brandon Marshall.

And what do all big stars have? A nick name of course.

Just look at Beast Mode, Megatron, Big Ben or even the Legion of Boom.

So in lue of the trend, Jeffery has come up with a nickname for himself as he prepares for his third season as an NFL player:

"The Show," the Bears man offered up when asked about a possible nickname by Sporting News.

"I feel like every time I try to catch the ball and make a play, I try to put on a show. So that's what I would call myself," Jeffery continued.

With two years still left on his rookie contract we may be getting ahead of ourselves to bestow a nickname on Jeffery but his talent is there for all to see.

He and Marshall combined for a frightening 189 catches, 2,716 yards and 19 touchdowns last season and Jeffery is looking to repeat the form which saw him rank number six across the league in terms of wide receiver output.

What with his newly bestowed nickname, and the way he speaks of the future, 'The Show' is certainly not one to lack confidence:

“I’m not the type of person that brags a lot about anything,” said Jeffery.

“But I feel that last year, what we (he and Marshall) did, we were at the top of the list as the two best receivers. But that was last year. This year we have to set our goal and try our best to do the same thing we did last year, if not better.”

The Show and the Chicago Bears will begin their 2014 season against the Philadelphia Eagles August 8.
