USMNT captain Clint Dempsey has been chosen alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to represent their country on the front cover of famed magazine 'Sports illustrated' as the 2014 FIFA World Cup draws ever closer.
With less than two weeks to go until kick off in Brazil the US magazine has created four separate covers for it's 'World Cup edition' with the former Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder joining three of the world's best to represent their country.
The picture above shows Dempsey draped in the stars and striped and the whole initiative by Sports Illustrated shows just how soccer fever is beginning to take over the United States ahead of the biggest tournament in the world.
The other three superstars of the sport are also shown standing proudly with their respective nation's flag and can be seen here. Cristiano Ronaldo is described as 'America's worst nightmare', whilst Dempsey himself gets the predictable Captain America title.
All four will be hoping for success in Brazil but it is Dempsey who perhaps faces the biggest challenge with the United States drawn against two of the favorites in Germany and Portugal, as well as their recent nemesis Ghana.
The United States' first game takes place June 16 against the African nation.
