Former-Valencia midfielder Seydou Keita has completed his move to Roma amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool were strongly linked with the ex-Barcelona midfielder this summer with Brendan Rodgers thought to be a fan.

Manchester United have also been linked, and new boss Louis Van Gaal is expected to be extremely busy after the World Cup. The Old Trafford squad is in need of reinforcements, and there could be a few on their way out as well.

But Keita will not be joining either Premier League team, after a picture was posted online that showed the Malian international signing his contract at Roma.

Like Liverpool, Roma finished as runners-up in their domestic competition thereby qualifying for the Champions League next season.

And like Liverpool they want to add to their options as they prepare for the extra strain set to be placed on their playing staff.

Brendan Rodgers reportedly came close to agreeing a deal for the 34-year-old six months ago, but Keita rejected the move after failing to receive a guarantee over first-team football at Anfield.

Both United and Liverpool will now move on to other targets.
