Following the release of the first game play trailer for the upcoming Madden NFL 15 it was announced on Friday who would be the star on the front cover.

A live show televised by ESPN brought in last years cover man Barry Sanders of the Detroit Lions to make the announcement.

The final vote came down to either Cam Newton, former Heisman Trophy winner and starting Quarterback for the Carolina Panthers or big name Cornerback for the Seattle Seahawks Richard Sherman.

The honour was eventually given to the Seahawks star who has had a stellar 2014 after winning the Super Bowl with Seattle then being imitated by none other than the President of the United States Barack Obama.

The Carolina Panthers Twitter page were quick to address their Quarterbacks loss tweeting: "Well, there's always next year. #KeepPounding

Congratulations to @RSherman_25 and the @Seahawks! See you in October!"

The impressive offence of Cam Newton is set to go head to head with Sherman and that impressive Seattle defence in week eight of the upcoming NFL season.
