Whether you’re most avid Manchester United fan in the world, or a supporter who simply likes to keep in touch with the ongoings of the club, you’re likely to have your own opinion on who it is that Louis van Gaal needs to be signing this summer.

There can be few points argued against the notion that United are in dire need of a large-scale squad overhaul, and the performances last term proved beyond all reasonable doubt that the players currently on the books at Old Trafford aren’t possessive of enough quality to compete routinely for major trophies. Van Gaal’s appointment was made by chiefs who have a clear vision of a future which involves United retaining their long-held status as one of the world’s super clubs, and as such numerous top names have been linked with big money moves to Manchester in order to amend the current crisis.

But whilst the idea of a Francesc Fabregas or Toni Kroos signing up to what is essentially a whole-system reboot under Van Gaal might be tantalisingly appealing to the majority of Red Devils fans, there’s plenty of things standing in the way of such transfers taking place.

Here we give you the 10 players we believe to be the top United targets for this summer, based on transfer news, Van Gaal’s relationships with other players and the positions which need to be filled the most. We’ve also ranked them out of 10 in terms of feasibility.
