Barcelona reject Manchester United's enquiry for Jordi Alba

Jordi Alba is not for sale.

Barcelona have notified Manchester United and other interested parties that Jordi Alba will not be leaving the Nou Camp this summer, reports The Daily Mail.

Luis Enrique is looking to freshen up the Nou Camp squad but Alba is one player he is keen to keep ahold of. They have told clubs that Cesc Fabregas, Pedro, Dani Alves and Alexis Sanchez are available but also said that the left-back is not for sale.

The news in a particular blow for Manchester United, who had reportedly made an enquiry for the defender as they look to bring in two new left-backs this summer.

Alba, 25, has impressed since joining from Valencia in 2012 and has travelled with the Spanish national squad as they look to defend their World Cup title.

Although not necessarily good news for Manchester United, Louis van Gaal will at least take homage in the fact that a deal for Luke Shaw looks all but complete.

The Southampton left-back has reportedly told Southampton chiefs that he wants to move to Old Trafford and he will likely seal a move after the World Cup.

Patrice Evra has also agreed a one-year extension when it looked more than likely that he would leave on a free transfer.
