With the World Cup getting under way in a matter of days, Nike have released their traditional advert ahead of the competition and Brazil 2014 sees some of their leading stars looking a bit different.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney, David Luiz, Franck Ribery, Andres Iniesta and Tim Howard all pop up to 'Rick Everything' and save football from boring clones, with one little twist - they are animated. The animations take on a caricature look for the quest the players get sent on by Ronaldo - the Brazilian one, not Cristiano.

It starts with some evil looking corporation boss type character criticising the world's leading stars for risking far too much when playing, before introducing a load of clones to 'perfect' football. The Brazilian Ronaldo watches on from empty stands as the clone make football really boring and nobody wants to watch it - there's also a little clone cameo for MIami Heat star LeBron James in there.

He then starts a quest to reunite the stars to win back football, but has to pick them out from the new 'regular' jobs they were forced to take up after being ousted by the clones. Cristiano Ronaldo is a shop window mannequin, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is trying to flog his book in the street, Andres Iniesta is picked up from outside a windmill, Neymar and David Luiz are hairdressers and Wayne Rooney is lugging around huge fish on the docks in his fisherman role.

Ronaldo takes them to a temple of football where he has been keeping all their kit and they arrange a winner takes all game with the clones. First goal wins, everybody does a few crazy skills, Neymar takes loads of selfies while doing a Matrix-style dribbling scene past hordes of clones and Cristiano Ronaldo scores the winner after going past loads of opponents.

Football is saved! Watch it above.
