After England suffered a 2-1 defeat against Italy in their World Cup opener in Manaus on Saturday night, football fans across the country could be forgiven for searching for another form of football distraction as the Three Lions' participation in the major tournament in Brazil hangs in the balance.

Just as well then that Sunday's papers are filled with fresh transfer speculation concerning lots of the country's biggest domestic clubs, with a host of leading names linked with summer moves to the Premier League.

With the World Cup providing an opportunity for want-away players to showcase their talent in the South American shop window, there has already been a number of dazzling performances to note, not least Andrea Pirlo's masterful display at the heart of the Italian midfield last night.

Despite the result, Roy Hodgson's side showed plenty of promise, and there is reason to be optimistic that qualification from Group D is not beyond this young England squad, with games against Uruguay and Costa Rica still to come.

But, before turning attention to Thursday's crucial clash against Luis Suarez and Co. here's a round-up of the latest transfer rumours doing the rounds...
