Liverpool don't want to sign Manchester City defender Micah Richards this summer, according to The Express.
The report has suggested that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has focussed his attention on bringing Sevilla defender Alberto Morata to Anfield in the up coming market, meaning the club are no longer interested in the Citizens man.
Richards has endured a frustrating couple of years at the Etihad, having struggled with form and fitness in recent time.
And with Liverpool now out of the race to sign the 25-year-old, the door now looks open for Arsenal and West Ham United to make their move for the player's signature.
Both clubs have been credited with interest in the City man, but it remains to be seen as to whether they bring him to London this summer.
Arsenal are in need of defensive reinforcements after full-back Bacary Sagna departed the Emirates in favour of a move to Manchester City.
However, the Gunners have also been linked with a move for Ivory Coast man Serge Aurier. Wenger could, though, opt to bring Richards to north London instead as he looks to find a replacement for Sagna.
Richards may have struggled in recent time, but he will be desperate to prove his credentials on England's elite stage once again.
On his day the defender can be as good as anyone at the back, but must return to his peak fitness immediately. If he can, then he may well represent a risk worth taking for Wenger and Co. at the Emirates.
There's still an opportunity for him to shine in the Premier League, and Arsenal could be his perfect match. Arsenal fans will be hoping the club can reach another level next term after landing the FA Cup this past season.
The Gunners challenge for the Premier League title, however, faded in the second half of the season, and the north London outfit would love to claim the ultimate prize. It remains to be seen as to whether Richards will be trying to help them achieve their goal next season.
