Radamel Falcao looks set to make a spectacular return to Spanish football with Real Madrid, after apparently agreeing personal terms with the club, according to France's BeIN Sports.
Falcao stunned the football world when he joined big spending Monaco last summer, in a deal that was reported top be around €60 million. However after an injury laden season which saw the 28-year old make just 17-appearances, it appears Real Madrid have finally got their man and the player has finally landed the move he always wanted.
MENDES PAVING THE WAY
Reports last week suggested that Facao's Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes, was paving the way for the Columbian to leave the Principality and it appears Mendes has pulled off the transfer that most were expecting to take place last season.
SUCCESSFUL SPELL AT ATLETICO
Falcoa spent two very successful seasons with Atletico Madrid from 2011-2013, scoring an incredible 52 goals in 68 appearances, and it was no secret at the time that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wanted to land the striker.
In fact such was the interest, Perez joked with Falcao one evening at an awards ceremony when he asked Casillas to pass the Columbian a napkin, referring to a similar message the president wrote down on a napkin ahead of landing Zidane in 2001.
If the reports are to be proved accurate, an announcement is expected to be made immediately after the World Cup is concluded.
This move could very well set off a stunning chain reaction amongst some of the big name players that have been linked to high profile summer transfers.
Karim Benzema is reportedly in negotiations for a new contract however with the impending arrival of Falcao, will the French striker have a change of heart and start looking at a move to the premiership?
There will be no shortage of offers, with Arsenal seemingly well placed after expressing previous interest.
WORLD CLASS FINSHER
Where does leave the Luis Suarez transfer saga?
Comments made yesterday evening by friend and former teammate Gabri Garcia, have given us the best insight yet of what might have been going through the mind of Suarez, when he suggested that his friend was only ever interested in the moving to Barcelona.
With Alexis Sanchez very much in the mindset of Brendan Rodgers, and a player Barcelona are willing to use in a swap deal with Suarez, the signing of Falcao by Madrid could be the catalyst for Suarez to line up alongside Lionel Mess at the Camp Nou next season.
