Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger looks set to make one big money signing this summer and will have to choose between Mario Balotelli and Alexis Sanchez, according to the Express.
The Gunners boss, despite having a large transfer warchest, will only make one major signing and is seemingly intent on adding to his forward options this summer ahead of the 2014/15 campaign. It does, however, remain to be seen as to whether Wenger presses ahead with a move for Balotelli or the Barcelona man.
Arsenal fans will certainly be hoping the club add to their striker options, with Yaya Sanogo currently the only real back up for Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman enjoyed a successful season at the Emirates, but could have done with added competition throughout 2013/14.
Arsenal's wingers, meanwhile, struggled with injuries at times throughout last season, with the likes of Lukas Podolski, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all missing parts of the campaign. Both areas are certainly in need of strengthening, but should Wenger opt for Sanchez or Balotelli?
Sanchez's situation at Barcelona appears to be a fairly odd one. Suggestions have been made that the winger has a rocky relationship with superstar player Lionel Messi. This appears, then, to be the reason why new Catalans boss Luis Enrique is ready to offload the Chilean talent.
If Wenger does bring him to Arsenal, then he will be signing a world class player - full of class and quality. Racking up 19 league goals and 10 assists last season just proves what an asset he could be for Wenger at Arsenal.
Balotelli, on the other hand, would add something very different to Wenger's front line. The Italian ace is certainly regarded as one of the most talented forwards in world football, but he's also seen as a major liability.
Wenger, however, may believe he can get the best out of the former City man, who would certainly add an extra spark to the north London club. The signing of Balotelli would represent risky business for Wenger, but it could have extraordinary results.
Arsenal fans will certainly be excited by the prospect of adding another world class player to their ranks. Mesut Ozil was the major coup for Wenger last summer, as he helped the club end their trophy drought last term.
The Gunners will, however, be desperate to succeed in the Premier League next season and will be targeting Manchester City's crown.
