Liverpool could turn their attentions to Lyon star, Alexandre Lacazette, should Luis Suarez leave Anfield this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

Liverpool’s star man was being linked with an £80million move away from the club since the season ended, with Real Madrid and Barcelona set to fight it out to land the player. However, after biting Giorgio Chiellini in Uruguay’s World Cup victory over Italy, his value could now drop drastically.

Suarez has been banned for four months for the incident, but Barcelona, in particular, are still reportedly interested in the player. The Reds, on the other hand, are unsure whether to cash-in on the player, or risk him further damaging the club’s image.

However, should Barcelona succeed in persuading the club, Liverpool have already identified Lacazette as a replacement for the man who scored 31 goals and added 24 assists in just 37 appearances last season. Of course, the Lyon forward does not boast the same stats at the Uruguayan, but could still provide some serious firepower, after scoring 22 goals last season.

Lyon have reportedly slapped a £10million price-tag on Lacazette, should any club wish to land him. This could prove to be another brilliant bit of business for Liverpool, similar to the £12million deal which saw Daniel Sturridge net 25 goals for the club last term.

Newcastle were supposedly interested in the French striker, but a switch to Liverpool, who narrowly missed out on the Premier League last season, would be a much more attractive option for the 23-year-old.
