Manchester United are believed to be closing in on their third signing of the summer in the form of highly-rated Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij. (Daily Mail)

The 22-year-old centre-back has reportedly been on Louis van Gaal's radar ever since he was appointed as Red Devils boss, and his current club Feyenoord are now convinced that De Vrij will follow his national team manager to Old Trafford.

A fee of around £7 million is being touted, which is considerably less than the money spent on either Ander Herrera or Luke Shaw, possibly signalling a more cautious approach from the club during the remainder of the transfer window.

Mehdi Benatia update
