Alongside Robin van Persie and the equally impressive Daley Blind, Robben was one of the stars of the show during the Netherlands' absolutely stunning demolition of Spain last month.

Continuing their impressive form throughout the early stages to top Group B, Louis van Gaal's Oranje were matched blow-for-blow by Mexico in their second-round clash and looked to be heading out of the World Cup altogether until the final few minutes of an enthralling clash in Fortaleza.

After Wesley Sneijder's decisive strike had pulled them level with two minutes remaining, Robben then incurred the significant wrath of Mexican supporters everywhere for appearing to go down a little easily under the challenge of former Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez in the dying seconds of injury time.

Schalke frontman Klaas-Jan Huntelaar stepped up to calmly convert the spot-kick past the despairing dive of the otherwise impressive Ochoa and now all that stands between the Netherlands and Robben and a spot in the semi-finals is surprise package Costa Rica.
