Manchester United winger Ashley Young could make a return to Aston Villa this summer, according to The Daily Mail.

The report has suggested that the 28-year-old could be set for the Old Trafford exit door with a number of Premier League clubs interested in his signature.

It appears that the likes of Newcastle United and Swansea City are also interested in taking him away from United ahead of the 2014/15 campaign. The trio of clubs could now battle for his signature, as Louis van Gaal looks to make his mark at the Theatre of Dreams.

Last season

Ashley Young, much like the majority of his Manchester United teammates had a difficult campaign last term. Having struggled for form and consistency, Young failed to make an impact under David Moyes, as United slumped to a seventh placed finish in the Premier League.

Manchester United fans would have been disappointed with all of their wingers last season, after Nani and Antonio Valencia also proved inconsistent. Ecuadorian Valencia has, however, been handed a new three year deal under the new regime at Old Trafford, but it appears that Young could be on his way out.

Van Gaal

New Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal looks set to make changes to his side ahead of the up coming campaign. United fans will certainly be hoping for an improvement as the club attempt to regain their European status.

The Dutchman's immediate priority, however, will be on Holland's World Cup semi-final clash with Argentina, as the national team look to secure a place in the final of the competition.
