Alexis Sanchez signs for Arsenal?

Football News

The picture everyone had been waiting for of Alexis Sanchez arriving at Arsenal has finally arrived all over social media. Unfortunately for Arsenal fans, however, it has been photo-shopped.

The snap that shows the Barcelona forward posing with his thumbs up in front of an cabinet display at the Emirates Stadium looked very realistic at first glance, only for the Gunners' elation to be quickly shot down.

The photo was shown to be fake soon after, with images on Twitter identifying the real photograph along with altered backgrounds around Arsenal's indoor facilities.

However, the big transfer of 25-year-old Sanchez to Arsenal does appear to be extremely close now, with even Guillem Balague tweeting earlier today, stating that the Chilean wants to play for Arsene Wenger.

With Arsenal boss Wenger set to make Newcastle's French defender Mathieu Debuchy his first summer signing within the next 48 hours and Sanchez ready to follow him, Gunners fans may not need to sweat for too much longer.

Interest from elsewhere

A deal for Sanchez will be a notable coup for Arsenal, with the player having also been linked with both Manchester United and Liverpool.

New Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal had reportedly hoped to bring Sanchez to Old Trafford, while Brendan Rodgers also identified him as a Liverpool target. However, Arsenal appear set to win the race and will be a reported £32 million.
