Louis Van Gaal targets Di Maria & Vidal

Louis Van Gaal will make signing Angel Di Maria and Arturo Vidal his top transfer priority once he takes over as Manchester United boss tomorrow.

That's according to today's Daily Express, who report that the Dutchman is ready to continue United's summer of spending once he reports for his first day as United manager on Monday morning.

Arturo Vidal

The Chilean international this week admitted that it would be hard to turn down "one of the world's biggest clubs" when asked about Manchester United's interest.

That has only added fuel to the fire after it emerged that United officials approached Chilean team doctors to ask to see Vidal's medical records after his knee surgery in May.

United are now reportedly planning to make a £35m bid for the Juventus midfielder, with a view to partnering him in a new-look midfield alongside Ander Herrera.

Angel Di Maria

The Argentina international looks to be the more difficult case, with reports today suggesting Real Madrid will sell Di Maria to Paris Saint Germain to fund their own move for James Rodriguez.

The asking price is reportedly £48m, a fee United and PSG are thought to be willing to pay - but the Argentine prefers a move to the Parc des Princes.

Transfer business

Having spent £56m already on Luke Shaw and Herrera, the United boss will not be the only new face at Carrington training ground tomorrow when he reports for duty.

Despite the fact that his Dutch side only just finished their World Cup campaign yesterday, beating Brazil 3-0 to claim third place, Van Gaal will begin his new job on Monday.

"That is not a problem for me," he told reporters after the Brazil victory. "I don't need a holiday. It's great to have such an exciting challenge.

"To work daily with young people is something that I don't need time off to rest for. I'm looking forward to it. I've only met two people from the daily management at the club - the chief scouts and the chief executive officer. And I've met two of the owners.

"It's time that I get to know more people at the club."
