The great and the good of US sport descended on Los Angeles for the 2014 ESPY Awards last night as rapper Drake handed out the coveted awards.
The big winners on the night included Kevin Durant and Ronda Rousey who picked up awards for best male and female athlete respectively.
Durant’s recognition as the best male athlete meant LeBron James did not receive an award for the first time since 2011.
Other winners included Richard Sherman and the United State’s Men’s national team.
The latter’s World Cup win over Ghana being recognized as the best moment of the sporting year.
The most poignant moment came when Michael Sam, the first openly gay player in the NFL, gave his acceptance speech having been handed the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
