It appears then that the Blues will hold further talks with Atletico over the signing of the Brazilian ace next week. It remains to seen, however, as to whether the Spanish club will be ready to sell the defender, who has also been linked with a move to Barcelona and Manchester United in recent time.

It had previously been expected that the Red Devils would make a move for the defender, who has a £24 million buy-out clause in his contract. However, United failed to step up their interest in the La Liga star, while Atletico reportedly turned down an approach from their La Liga rivals Barcelona for the player's services.

Chelsea transfers

Chelsea may now be free to press ahead with a move for the Atletico man, having already secured the signatures of two of their star players. Diego Costa and Luis have already arrived at Stamford Bridge, but it remains to be seen as to whether Miranda joins his former teammates in the Premier League.

Blues fans will certainly be excited ahead of the new season, as the club go in search of silverware under Mourinho. The club will certainly be hoping to improve upon last season's third place Premier League finish after only managing a third place finish last term.
