Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal would be willing to join Manchester United, Liverpool or Real Madrid this summer, according to The Express.

The same report has suggested that Liverpool now lead the race for the player's signature,  despite United having been credited with interest in the superstar for some time. And, it's uncertain as to whether the Premier League duo will have to battle La Liga giants Real Madrid for the Serie A midfielder in this transfer window.

It's no surprise that some of the elite clubs in European football are interested in the Chilean, as he's recognised as one of the leading midfielders in the world. His performances alongside ex-Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba at Juventus in recent time have been admirable, and he further proved his credentials at this summer's World Cup in Brazil.

Vidal would certainly prove a major coup for the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, but it remains to be seen as to whether the clubs step up in their pursuit of him in the near future.

United or Liverpool?

If Vidal does move to England's elite division, then it appears that he will join one of England's most successful Premier League clubs. Liverpool appear desperate to land a marquee signing in this transfer window after they lost star player Luis Suarez to Barcelona. And Vidal would certainly slot in nicely alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson at Anfield.

Liverpool, unlike Manchester United, will be plying their trade in this season's Champions League, which could yet influence any decision from Vidal. United, however, are in desperate need of midfield additions this summer after a number of their players struggled for form last season.

The likes of Tom Cleverley, Marouane Fellaini and Darren Fletcher all struggled for consistency last term, whilst Michael Carrick, who also failed to reproduce his form of the previous campaign, has been ruled out of the early stages of this season through injury. It appears, then, that Van Gaal and Rodgers could be set to embark upon their first major battle.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, seem to have taken a back-seat in their pursuit of the midfielder, despite the same report from The Express suggesting that the European champions could sell Sami Khedira and Angel Di Maria in order to press ahead with another transfer this summer.

However, it appears that the Spanish giants may struggle to land the midfielder after the club secured the services of Colombian ace James Rodriguez. Carlo Ancelotti already has an array of talent in the midfield department, with Luka Modric and ex-Liverpool man Xabi Alonso also plying their trade at the club.
