Manchester United star man Wayne Rooney met up with Red Devils legend David Beckham before their big pre season clash against LA Galaxy.

The England international, 28, saw Footballing great Beckham in America as preparations got underway for United’s first game of their pre-season tour looms at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena.

Friends reunited

"Great to catch up with David Beckham yesterday," Rooney posted on his official Facebook page.

"Now it's time to get ready for our match later against LA Galaxy!"

New era

The game kicks off in the early hours of Thursday morning and is live on MUTV, with United hoping to get off to a winning start in pre season with their bid to get back to their best next season firmly in place.

The Red Devils will face strong opposition in LA Galaxy, as former Spurs man Robbie Keane and USA’s golden boy Landon Donovan ply their trade there.

But knowing they have ambassador of the sport Beckham in their corner will be a boost for the side, certainly wanting to impress for him and new manager Louis van Gaal, who will coach his first game in charge here.

Time to impress

Rooney more than anyone is wanting to impress, as he is one of the players in contention to take the vacant captain’s armband for next season, so an outstanding performance would be perfect for the player.

After playing LA Galaxy, United continue their tour of America with games against AS Roma, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, hoping to be in perfect condition for the first game of the season against Swansea at Old Trafford.
