Many are wondering who will be Germany's next captain as the country looks to enter an era of domination following their World Cup win over a week ago. 

Before England's Steven Gerrard announced his retirement from the international stage, Philipp Lahm revealed that he will be passing on the armband despite being just 30 years-old and capable of playing in the next European Championships and World Cup.

But the decision has been made and there will be a number of eager candidates putting their foot in the door of Joachim Low's office when the team next meet up in preparation for the European qualifiers.
