Manchester United have submitted a new £35m offer for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal and are increasingly confident that they can finally wrap up a deal for the Chilean star in the next few days, according to the Sunday People.

Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is desperate to add a top quality force in central midfield and Vidal certainly fits the bill in that respect, but since the World Cup concluded talks with Juve have crawled along at a snail's pace over a blockbuster addition to the ranks at Old Trafford.

Talks continue

Juve would prefer to keep Vidal and are on record as stating that they still view the midfield maestro as key to their plans for next season, but the 27-year-old's market value will likely never be higher following a strong showing at the World Cup and as a result the Old Lady are conscious that the time may be right to cash in.

United are very much the frontunners for Vidal's signature and have held tentative discussions with Juve and his agent Fernando Felicevich over a third major summer signing, despite interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Deal could move quickly

The Sunday People believe that United chiefs are increasingly confident that weeks of manoeuvring over a deal for Vidal will be worth it, expecting things to move quickly once more talks take place at the start of next week.

Van Gaal is currently concentrating on getting the current United squad to adapt to his philosophy on a tour of the USA, but Vidal's signature is a huge priority for the Dutchman and would be the most significant addition to his ranks by some distance, all for a fee thought to be in the region of £35m.
