An irrepressible force in the shape of Gennady Golovkin continued to steamroll through the middleweight division on Saturday night.

A three-round demolition of normally durable Australian Daniel Geale extended his stoppage streak to 17, with a career knockout percentage of 90%; the highest of any active champion and currently the third highest of all time.

Having also despatched of three-time world title contender Matthew Macklin with a crippling body punch last year, Golovkin cemented his position as a leading light at 160lbs.

New opponent?

Work will begin behind the scenes to entice a new opponent for a new date, likely to be sometime in October, but Tom Loeffler and the Kazakh’s team at K2 Promotions must work extensively to find someone willing to take on the power-puncher.
