With just hours left for the Major League Baseball trade deadline, it will be interesting to see which teams will be buyers at the deadline. Some teams have made a sudden push over the past few weeks since the All-Star break.

Potential Buyers:

Detroit Tigers

The Tigers have already made a move to help out their bullpen when they made a trade just several days ago with the Texas Rangers and acquired their closer Joakim Soria. Detroit plans on using Soria as a seventh and eighth inning guy setting up for Joe Nathan who is currently holding on to the closers role. Detroit is in "win now" mode, and is still in need of making one more big splash before the deadline. Possibly acquiring another starting pitcher. Look for the Tigers to acquire a starting pitcher, something that they have done in the past when they acquired both Doug Fister and Anibal Sanchez. Detroit could use another strong starting pitcher to add to their already good rotation. A trade for a starter could give Detroit the option to move Drew Smyly back to the bullpen and will give them more depth. The Tigers should go all in, with signs pointing that Max Scherzer will not be back with the team next season, Detroit can go out and get a big time starter to help them make a World Series run.

Miami Marlins

The Marlins were probably looked at as being sellers at the break, but have been on a recent hot streak, and find themselves just six games back of the NL East leading Washington Nationals. Miami could go out and add another starter or possibly another bat. They have good offensive pieces in Giancarlo Stanton and Casey McGehee. Miami lost their ace Jose Fernandez early on in the season to Tommy John Surgery. Henderson Alvarez has done a good job at the top of the rotation. Look for the Marlins to be potential buyers.

New York Yankees

The Yankees are just 4 1/2 games back of the AL East leading Baltimore Orioles. A team that has suffered with injuries all season, has already made a few moves to acquire Chase Headley from San Diego and Brandon McCarthy from the Diamondbacks. The Yankees may look to acquire another big name before the deadline and make one last playoff push for their captain Derek Jeter in his final season. They are set to have Michael Pineda return in mid August, and are waiting to hear more about Masahiro Tanaka. The Yankees may try to add another piece for another World Series run.

St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals have the the young prospects to potentially make a big trade at the deadline. With Kolten Wong and Oscar Taveras looked at as top prospects, St. Louis may look to trade one or two of their young prospects for a star. The Cardinals have struggled to score at times this season, so they make look to acquire a big bat, or power arm to go into a rotation that has seen its share of injuries. Adding another star pitcher to go along with Adam Wainwright could boost the Cardinals chances of taking over the NL Central lead, and make another World Series appearance.

Other possible buyers: Seattle Mariners, Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers.
