Werder Bremen vs Chelsea
Sunday, 3rd August
Friendly match
Kick-off: 1600

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has named a strong side for the pre-season clash with Werder Bremen in Germany.

As well as new signings getting the nod from the outset, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been preferred between the sticks ahead of veteran Czech international Petr Cech. It will be the young Belgian’s first ever appearance for the club.

Defensive options

In defence, full-back Felipe Luis starts on one flank with Cesar Azpilicueta on the other. Young Kurt Zouma will get another chance to impress alongside captain John Terry at the heart of defence.

Marco van Ginkel and Nemanja Matic also start for the Blues, along with Mohamed Salah and Cesc Fabregas in what looks like a 4-4-2 formation for the travelling Premier League side.
