WWE lists most beautiful championships

Throughout the history of professional wrestling we have seen some brilliant championship titles, some a lot more historic than others whilst custom belts were also introduced along the way.

Every fan will have his or her own opinion on which championship title looks the best, which has been designed to perfection and suits any superstar who has held the gold.

There isn’t a right or wrong answer either, just because one championship is more historic won’t necessarily mean it is deemed more beautiful than a newer championship belt.

I believe the WWE Undisputed Championship is the most beautiful championship belt but that might not be a popular choice for other WWE or wrestling fans in general.

And it looks like the editors on WWE.com also disagree with my choice, as the WWE Undisputed Championship failed to make the cut in their top ten most beautiful championships, and you can be sure that neither of John Cena’s customised titles also made the list, thankfully.

So, which championships have been classed as the ten most beautiful titles in sports entertainment history? Let’s take a look…

10. WWE Championship (Hulk Hogan)

This version of the WWE Championship was created during Hulk Hogan’s four-year reign as champion, as you can see by clicking on Hulk’s name, the WWE Championship belt is a lot smaller than what we are accustomed to seeing from any belt nowadays; with the flags on the side plates clearly showing the superstar holding the gold was in fact the champion of the world.

9. ECW Championship

The biggest prize ECW could offer truly reflected the style of wrestling which was on show, crazy, wild, extreme; take your pick. It was an unorthodox design for a world championship belt but that’s what made it unique and it stood out with the bloody writing and wild design.

8. NWA World Championship

One of the most famous championships in history along with it being one of the most prestigious. It looks quite simple, a smaller rectangular centerplate compared to today’s championships but still a very good looking belt, much like the previous WWE Championship this belt also features flags on the side plates such as Canada and Australia.

7. Classic World Tag Team Championships

Perhaps the most famous tag team belts which some of the greatest tag teams have held, Legion of Doom, Edge and Christian and many more before the two championships belt splint into the separate Raw and SmackDown championships. A unique design indeed, with the word ‘world’ in red in front of an image of earth, again signifying that the holders are the best tag team in the world.

6. NWA Television Championship

Another unique design, even though it was a secondary championship it was still a very prestigious belt. You could tell instantly by looking at this belt that it wasn’t the main championship but by the red strap behind the plates as well as the distinct red designs on the plates at the front, this championship was certainly visually appealing.

5. WWE Championship (Current)

The current WWE Championship belt which forms the WWE World Heavyweight Championship has been declared the fifth most beautiful championship in sports entertainment history. It does have a beautiful design, it looks a lot classier than the previous spinner championship so anything was going to be an improvement. But this belt does look like it belongs to a real champion, with custom side plates available it does make it that little bit more unique.

4. The Million Dollar Championship

The championship Ted DiBiase brought in and crowned himself as, another gimmick championship which his son Ted DiBiase Jr. would bring back. The belt itself lives up to the gimmick it was originally meant for. It’s meant to look like somebody arrogant is holding it and the big three dollar signs which made up the centerplate shows that, topped off the dollar signs making up the strap; a great design.

3. Intercontinental Championship

In 1998 the original Intercontinental Championship was replaced by a darker and updated version, but that just didn’t work so thankfully the original design was brought back. It’s the only classic looking belt right now and that’s great because it looks prestigious which certain belts don’t do. The white strap is unique and just feels more like a championship title compared to a black strap version or the previous Intercontinental Championship, a great design.

2. WWE Championship (Winged Eagle)

This is probably the most loved WWE Championship belt by fans, perhaps the most loved belt as a whole. It just oozes class and the good thing about this belt is that the superstars who were lucky enough to capture this belt, it always looked good on them. Nowadays some titles don’t seem to be a good fit for superstars; the winged eagle had no problem of doing that with some massive household names capturing this beautiful championship.

1. Big Gold Belt (World Heavyweight Championship)

Is there even an argument here? Even though my personal choice differs you can’t argue that the big gold belt will go down in history as the best-looking belt in history. Click on the title above to see just how great it looks, it’s just a massive gold block to be wearing around your waist, if that doesn’t signal that you’re the man to beat, I don’t know what does. Some of the best have held that gold, so it holds the prestige as well as the great design, it would be a shame if this belt was to be retired for a more updated version of the WWE World Heavyweight Championships.
