Daigo Nishi recreates Paul Scholes wonder goal in Japan

Football News

Daigo Nishi treated J-League fans to some Premier League quality earlier this week scoring a goal incredibly similar to Paul Scholes' famous effort.

The defender does not get on the scoresheet too often, but when he does, it looks as they he makes it worth the wait. He hit an absolute rocket straight from a corner as his Kashima Antlers thrashed Sanfrecce Hiroshima 5-1.

Echoes of Scholes

Scholes made world news at Bradford's Valley Parade in 2000 when an ambitious training ground routine was pulled off thanks to the deadly accuracy of the midfield pair David Beckham and Scholes.

In carbon copy fashion, the Antlers pulled off exactly the same routine with exactly the same result. When will these defenders ever learn?

We want more

Nishi should be warned, however, as the true mark of a genius comes from repeating your miracles. Scholes famously struck a similar goal, amongst a host of other impressive strikes, against Aston Villa.

So nice try Nishi, but Louis van Gaal won't be on the phone just yet.

How does it compare to Scholes' effort? Take a look at the original below!
